Anastasia Island: Sitting east of St. Augustine, Anastasia Island is a barrier island off the northeast Atlantic coast of Florida. The island is an average of 1 mile in width and about 14 miles long. It’s separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal waterway, also known as Matanzas Bay or Matanzas River, which opens into the St. Augustine Inlet.
The northern part of the island known as Davis Shores as well as the Lighthouse Park neighborhood are within St. Augustine city limits. Other communities on the island include St. Augustine Beach, Butler Beach and Crescent Beach.
